Dear Family and Friends,
This week was another crazy week! We just got a fresh batch of member references, and we are SO excited to start working with them! The members here really rock. We are so grateful for our leaders and all they do to help us!
We had a funny experience on Sunday. We were walking to our lunch when we notice that the sky is realllly dark. We start putting our scriptures in bags so that if it rained, they wouldn`t get wet. As we did this, we said a quick prayer that we would be able to get all our things ready before the rain hit. Well, after finishing up tying up the bags, my companion looks at the sky and says “Alright – Bring it!” As I pointed to the sky and said “Ready!” Well….bad idea. A sheet of rain comes POURING down. We didn`t even have time to get our umbrellas out!
So, moral of the story, God answers prayers. But also, don`t tempt him!
I am really enjoying this part of my mission. I have seen what diligently keeping the commandments can do. I know that God loves us and wants to bless us, but can only fully do so if we put in our part. He will never obligate us to have blessing, but if we want them, we can work for them!
In the words of Nefi:
“But behold, there are many that harden their hears against the Holy Spirit, that it hath no place in them; wherefor, they cast many things away which are written and esteem them as things of naught.
“But I, Nephi, have written what I have written, and I esteem it as of great worth, and especially unto my people, For I pray coninually for them by day, and mine eyes water my pillow by night, because of them; and I cry unto my God in faith, and I know that he will hear my cry”
I have faith that for every person who heardens their hearts to the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, there is another person who will understand the importance of our words. The test is if we will be diligent like Nephi and find those people.
Keep having faith, but don`t forget to share your faith with those around you. Many are looking, and we are the ones who have what they need.
