This week was sloooooooooooooow. My watch even stopped! But then it started up again, and even though we had trouble finding some of our investigators, and getting into some lessons, we survived! We had a good turnout on Sunday, and we are planning a baptism for the 18th of June. We are so excited for our investigator to get baptized. Even the baptismal service won`t last for very long, this decision will change her life.
This week though, I learned about PATIENCE.
So we have a few investigators who are keeping their commitments (reading, going to church, praying) but still have not decided on a baptismal date. It`s been an interesting way to develop patience, as both my companion and I know that this decision is the BEST decision they could ever make. Following our Savior Jesus Christ through baptism is literally the gateway to being clean from sin and living with God again.
But we can`t and won`t force anyone to make this decision; God has given us something called agency, which is the ability to choose.
Basically the way we use our agency determines our eternal destination. So we need to have a clear focus on where we want to go, so we can use our agency to get there. This is exactly what the Nephites, an ancient people that lived here in America, did. It says:
“Wherefore, the prophets, and the priests, and the teachers, did labor diligently, exhorting with all long-suffering the people to diligence…persuading them to look forward unto the Messiah” Jarom 1:11
I know that if we focus on doing what Christ asks us and making him the center of our lives, we will be able to make the decisions that will help us get back to Him. That won`t stop the trials, but rather, help us bear them.
I know that as we focus our lives on the Messiah, who is Christ, we will be able to be patient in our trials and know that there is hope ahead.
I know this to be true. I have seen it in my mission, and I know that learning about Christ is the best way to bear our own trials and to choose the right.
I love you all!
