Week 27 – Sep 7

Dear Family and Friends,
This week was another good week. Sadly, we have a few people who we were teaching who are deciding they don´t really want to look for the truth or keep the commandments of God, but we found a lot of good potential investigators too. It´s hard because some people don´t have this desire to change, and to really follow Christ. They don´t understand that change isn´t a bad thing – it is a part of becoming the best person we can be. It is a part of preparing to live with God again, and inherit all He wants to give us, but can only give us if we are obedient to his commandments and his will.
There is a part in the Liahona, a church magazine, that I will roughly translate. It basically says that Satan wants us to stop practicing the good habits we learned in our house, in institute and seminary, and in the mission, like reading the scriptures daily, praying daily, taking the Sacrament worthily every week, and serving others sincerely and with all our hearts. That is from Elder M.Russell Ballard, an apostle of the Lord. I know that this is true, Satan wants us to feel confined with these “rules” when really, they are protections. These commandments of God, like keep the Sabbath Day holy, are only to help us come unto him, and not to keep us from having fun. In fact, I know the commandments  give us more joy and more happiness when we keep them then when we don´t.
SO if anyone wants a refresher on the 10 commandments, they are found in Exodus 20:1-17 in the bible, and Mosiah 13 in the Book of Mormon. I want to encourage you all to take a moment to review the commandments of God, and pick one or two you could improve on. I promise you, it will change your life for the better! And if you have any questions on the commandments, you can always 1) Study them more in the scriptures 2) Ask one of you church leaders or 3) Ask the missionaries! Really, they looooove questions…usually 😉
Anyways, this week one triumph we had is when a whole family of less active people came to church – the parents and all six children! It took about a transfer and a half, but they came 🙂
Also, we found out that the zone leaders and all of the elders in our area and us made a huge mistake – we read the new maps of our areas wrong! My companion and I have been working in the wrong area for a transfer! But know that we understand, we are ready to get to work in our REAL area! We are excited to have more time to focus on other parts, as we now have 8 less recent converts to visit.
Thank you for all your support! I love you all!
Con amor,
Hermana Miclyn Noorda
